It seems impossible that an island like Majorca, measuring only 3,640 km2, could have such a wide variety of sports and leisure activities to choose from. The key to its success is the variety of landscapes and beaches, which make it a dream destination for active travelers. Its ideal conditions are enhanced by a steady climate all year round, making diving, climbing and expeditions possible in any season. In addition, in the last few decades many adventures have been given a premium touch, allowing you to discover this natural paradise in the most enticing and exciting ways.

      Golf

Majorca has 23 golf courses, many of them among the top 10 in Spain according to publications like Golf Digest and Leading Courses. And that's saying a lot—even more so when you consider the average quality of the country’s golf courses. But above all, the courses in Majorca stand out for how they combine greens with olive trees, how the hills hug the bunkers and how club houses at places like Son Gual, Alcanada and Son Severa make sure to always offer the best facilities and services.

      Adventures on horseback

Traditionally, horses and other equines have been used to move around the island, allowing access to the most remote and rugged areas. Since the island still has plenty of places to discover, doing it on horseback is a great way to have a 100% local and responsible adventure. There are various types of expeditions to enjoy: from quiet strolls along interior paths and the Albufera wetlands, to more daring excursions through the Serra de Tramuntana, where your all-terrain animal will take you to the most secluded coves.

      Scuba Diving

On Majorca, scuba diving is a luxury, as it lets you reach the many underwater caves found along the island’s coast. In addition, the geological heterogeneity of the area means that there’s a place for every type of dive, attracting all kinds of adventurers, from those looking to improve and find unexplored areas to those taking the plunge for the first time.

      Yoga and Pilates in nature

The word “Mediterranean” has always been used to positively describe cuisine, a certain lifestyle and a way to disconnect. Out in the open air, the rolling hills, fields and cliffs are the perfect companions for anyone seeking nirvana—or doing static exercise. The benefits are varied, from use of the five senses, to better oxygenation, to the procuration of positive energy. Also, to multiplied exponentially the restorative effect, visit Sea House of Iberostar Selection Albufera Park and practice yoga in such special places like on a paddleboard in an empty cove.

      Tennis

The most widely known Majorcan is none other than Rafael Nadal, the tennis player who, beyond his professional achievements, has managed to bring his love for the sport to the island. He’s done it by creating a training center that offers instructive experiences with the professionals that shaped him into the champion he has become. At his academy, you can connect with the legend himself by visiting the museum where his trophies are kept, in addition to enjoying the center’s sports medicine services. What’s more, Iberostar hotels on the island like the Iberostar Playa de Muro and the Iberostar Selection Albufera Park, among others, have their own tennis courts where you can play a few matches during your vacation.

      Sailing

When you walk along the docks of Portals Nous, Port Adriano or Port de Majorca, it’s easy to imagine that you’re in Monte Carlo. The quality of these marinas and the services they provide are so high that they’ve managed to attract the world’s finest yachts, in addition to organizing some of the most sophisticated regattas in the Mediterranean. With these kinds of surroundings, who could resist renting a sailboat and navigating around the island? The various companies that operate in these slips offer boats—with or without skippers, for those who have their boating licenses—that include all the charm of a sailboat and all the luxury of a yacht.

      Paragliding

Majorca is a dizzying, mountainous place. The Serra de Tramuntana, the backbone of the northern part of the island, reaches an altitude of 1,436 meters at its highest point, with peaks in close proximity to both the plains and the sea. These jutting mountains are the perfect place to go paragliding, allowing you to imagine that you’re a bird gliding on soft winds. In addition, Majorca offers launch points at different altitudes; you can start your vacation at 250 meters above sea level with short jumps, and end at over 1,000 meters, where you’ll really feel like you have wings.
